About Us
St. Mark By the Sea Lutheran Church (ELCA) was the first Church in Palm Coast. It began as a mission congregation in 1973 as ITT began the first stages of planning this city. With over 100 members, the congregation was officially Chartered in May of 1974 by the Lutheran Church in America, a predecessor body of the ELCA. Its first service was held on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1973. The congregation had a central role in the life of the small hamlet, and as the community began to grow, St. Mark By the Sea was instrumental in providing meeting and worship space for other denominations' missions. As the first church in Palm Coast, the heritage of St. Mark By the Sea has always been one that has embraced diversity and hospitality.
Pastor Marc Otterbein was the first pastor.
