Garden of Eternal Peace

The ancient Christian tradition of burial at church has been revived at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church. The columbarium and surrounding garden provide a quiet final resting place for the cremated remains of a loved one and for families to gather for meditation and remembrance. The garden is landscaped with bushes, flowers, and a soothing water fountain.

Membership at St. Mark is not required to purchase a niche. St. Mark is pleased to offer this service to the whole community. Memorial services are also available through our pastor.

Each niche is a “companion” niche because each can hold two cinerary urns. The niches are approximately 8 by 8 inches and 16 inches deep.

The columbarium is a permanent feature of the west wall of our sanctuary. It consists of limestone panels on the sides and top, individual niches, with a dark mountain green granite faceplate. The faceplate can be engraved with names and birth and death dates*. Choice of niche location is by availability at the time of purchase.

(*Restrictions on engraving according to guidelines.)
